With the help of Jack
Griffin and Bill Talley I started the Frederick Area Divers dive team in 1988. The team just celebrated its 20th
season in 2008. The intention of creating this team was to introduce new divers to the sport to feed the high school programs,
and to give high school divers an additional season to train. Hopefully some of these divers could pursue diving at the college
level.
The Head Coaching position for Frederick Area Divers has been handed down to another former F.A.D. Diver
for 20 years.
F.A.D. has had an average of 40 divers per year for 20 years. Smallest team in 1988 had
8 divers. Largest team in 1995 had 78 divers.
Frederick Area Divers attended the Maryland State Games for 4 years winning more than
20 medals.
Sky High Trampoline was started in 1997 to give local divers another sport to participate in. With the lack
of public pools in the area, divers went to the gym to continue their training. In the process Sky High Trampoline produced
several State, Regional, and National medallists. Since 1997 most of the high school divers who have won County Diving Championships
and gone on to dive in college were Sky High Trampoline Team members.
Sky High Trampoline Team members in 9 years won over 30 State Championship medals and 12 Regional Championships
Medals. National Medallist list below.
